Driving sustainable building practices

With the aim of supporting sustainable property development,  the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and the Europe Regional Network of the World Green Building Council (WGBC) have joined forces to work on improving energy and resource efficiency, whilst at the same time reducing CO2 emissions.

Under this agreement, both parties will endevour to to drive sustainable building practices in those countries where they both have a presence.  The first country which they will focus their efforts on is Croatia.  Working together with the Croatia Green Building COuncil, one of the initiative will be to collaborate on financing components of Croatia's national building renovation strategy.

Actions through which these two organisations hope to drive such sustainable practices include: promoting best industry standards and practices for energy and resource efficiency, climate resilience and building sustainability; promoting innovative zero-waste design, green urban planning and low carbon emissions; engaging in policy dialogue; and mobilisation of financial resources.
