Commission launches consultation on skills and competences classification
On 15 September 2015, the European Commission announced the launch of a consultation to finalise the content of the classification of European Skills, Competences, Occupations and Qualifications (ESCO).
The consultation will run for eight weeks as of 14 October and is targeted at European stakeholders with expertise in sectors such as construction, energy and waste management. As the aim of the counsultation is to review the draft classification, participants should have a good understanding of the terminology and structure of occupations, skills, competences and/or qualifications within that sector. ESCO is a multilingual classification of European Skills, Competences, Qualifications, and Occupations, which aims to
Enhance the functioning of the labour market,
Bridge the communication gap between the world of work and the world of education and training,
Improve cooperation between public and private employment services and education and training institutions,
Reduce skill gaps by finding the jobs matching the skills of people - across borders and language barriers.
